Emergency Battery
5.7.3.1 General
The driving unit has an integrated emergency battery. The emergency battery sup-
plies the system with power if the mains or battery are unable to do so. The emergency
battery guarantees an operation of
at least 30 minutes
. Operating time could be lon-
ger depending on the operating mode, temperature, size of the blood pump, and set
rate.
If the driving unit is connected to the mains, the emergency battery is automatically
charged. As long as the emergency battery is charging, the batteries will charge more
slowly.
If a replacement driving unit is available, its emergency battery must be charged every
four weeks.
5.7.3.2 Charging the Emergency Battery
Charge the emergency battery on an inactive driving unit every four weeks. This ap-
plies to any driving units that are not currently being used with patients (replacement
driving units, driving units in storage).
