The battery charge level display allows users to estimate how much
longer the system can be used in mobile operation. This is a guideline
value. Factors that determine the duration of mobile use:
chapter 5.7.1.9: Driving Unit Operating Time in Battery Operation,
page 56.
Batteries continue discharging even when not in use. Every two weeks,
replace the batteries in the driving unit with the replacement batteries.
Charge batteries that are not in use every three months. Failure to do
so can shorten battery lifetime. It may also prevent the batteries from
maintaining their guaranteed properties.
Store and transport batteries so as to protect them against short cir-
cuits. Potential hazards could include metallic objects, such as keys, or
liquids. A short circuit will cause the battery to discharge.
5.7.1.1 Inserting the Batteries
The driving unit has two identical battery mounts. Each of them holds one battery.
Grasp the battery by the recessed grip. Insert the battery into the lower guide first, then
into the upper one, and push it downwards. In the bottom position, the battery will au-
dibly snap into place. Press the battery downward if necessary.
