8.10 Replacing the Driving Tube
Heed the instructions for use on EXCOR sterile components!
Replacement of the driving tube is only described here in terms of the work steps to
be performed on the driving unit and panel PC.
When replacing a driving tube, pause the blood pump(s). Allowing the driving unit to
continue running with the connections open could result in particles being drawn into
the driving unit. These could damage the driving unit, or result in later damage to the
blood pumps. Audible alarms are off while the blood pumps are paused.
8.10.1 Replacing Driving Tubes - BVAD Left, LVAD, RVAD

Mount the flow sensors and cable protectors.

Log off.

driving unit. The driving tube with corresponding color coding is ready.

Log in with the

user profile.
3.
Remove the cable wrap.
4.
Remove the flow sensor from the blood pump.
5.
Call up the

TART
/ S
TOP
BLOOD
PUMPS
view.
6.
In BVAD operating mode, stop both blood pumps; in LVAD or RVAD mode,
stop the corresponding blood pump.
7.
Replace the driving tube.
8.
Start the blood pumps.
9.
Check blood pump filling and emptying; optimize if necessary.
10.
Mount the flow sensor and cable wrap.
11.
Log off.
