Compensation matrix. % of FLi to subtract from FLj. Where FLi and FLj refer to
fluorescence detector numbers. The size of the compensation matrix is equal to the
number of fluorescence detectors (colors) of the instrument.
So, for a 10 color instrument there will be 100 values from $DFC1TO1 … $DFC1TO10
and $DFC10TO1 … $DFC10TO10 and all combinations in between. For FL1 through
FL10.
A six color instrument will produce 36 $DFCiTOj values. For FL1 through FL6.

Single character defining mode of data, L=listmode.
$NEXTDATA
Byte offset into binary data for next data item. In this case it is the offset to the
beginning of the FCS 3.0 section.
$OP
Operator ID, that is, user ID.
$PAR
Number of parameters selected in the protocol. Including all linear and logarithmic
versions that were selected. This number also indicates the number of parameters
per event in the DATA part. The parameter indices are determined by the order in
which they were selected in the protocol.
$PnB
Number of bits allocated to store data for parameter n: 16 = 10 bit data per
parameter plus 6 bits of padding.
$PnE
Lin/Log parameter n calibration (decades, offset) “0,0” means linear and “ 4.0,
0.1024” means logarithmic. This value is used to specify the offset and decades
used to set the tick mark scaling on plots for log parameters.
$PnG
Amplifier gain used for acquisition of parameter n.
$PnN
Name of parameter n, for example: Manufacturer assigned name, that is, FS INT LIN
or FL3 PEAK LOG
$PnR
Channel resolution of parameter n: 1024 = 10 bit parameters.
$PnS
User assigned stain name of parameter n.
