15.11.2 Backup Media Archive Reminder
Slide data is stored on the BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler for a maximum of 2 months.
Billing and System Integrity information will be stored on the device for a minimum of 13 months,
and a maximum of 14 months.
To make it possible to access archived slide data, it is important to regularly archive slide data on
backup media. Daily backups are performed automatically, as long as the appropriate backup
media is in place. If the backup media is missing, there will be a prompt to insert backup media,
so that the aged data can be archived.
If data is not backed up, the workstation will not remove old data. Failure to back up data over a
period of time eventually exhausts the workstation's storage space. If the workstation's storage
space is consumed, the system discontinues processing.

15.11.3 Alternate Backup Media Daily
BD recommends using at least two backup media which should be alternated daily. This practice
ensures minimum data loss in the unlikely event of a Workstation failure. Label each backup
media with the instrument name and the date they were first and last used.
To change USB flash drives (for USB backup systems):

Remove the USB flash drive that is plugged into the system console.
2 Insert the alternate flash drive into one of the USB ports on the system console.
Archive backup media monthly. For example, if performing back up to a set of two backup media
that are used every other day, archive the oldest media each month. Store archived media in a
cool dry place.
15.11.4 Manual Daily Backup
If the automatic backup procedure is unsuccessful, the Backup Status message will indicate why
the procedure failed ( No backup media in the drive ). In this case, perform a manual backup
procedure.
