Removing Slides from Trays
To remove slides from a tray:
Remove slides from trays by grasping the edges of the slide and gently pulling the slide from
under the metal clips.
15.4 Handling Slide Trays
This section describes the procedures for loading, unloading, and ejecting trays. Pay particular
attention to the warnings and cautions presented in this section.
15.4.1
Loading Trays
Once the trays are loaded with slides, they can be placed in the instrument for processing. Make
sure that the trays contain slides that correspond to the configuration, or operating mode, of the
instrument (for example BD SurePath™ slides with plastic coverslips for an operating mode of
SurePath Plastic).
A stack of trays can be placed in an idle BD FocalPoint™ Slide Profiler and processing initiated,
or additional trays can be added to the input hopper during processing without interrupting the
processing sequence. If necessary, a tray of slides can also be ejected during the processing
sequence. Up to 36 trays can be loaded in the input hopper.
To load trays in the input hopper when the instrument is idle:
This procedure assumes the input hopper is empty and the device is idle.
1
Lift the input hopper door on the right side of the instrument.
2
Place a single tray in the hopper so that the notched corner of the tray is at the front left when
facing the instrument (trays fit in the instrument only one way). This procedure ensures that
subsequently loaded trays do not jam.
WARNING
REMOVE ALL OBSTRUCTIVE JEWELRY BEFORE LOADING
OR UNLOADING TRAYS. AFTER OPENING A HOPPER DOOR,
BE SURE ALL MOVING PARTS IN THE HOPPER HAVE
STOPPED BEFORE INSERTING OR REMOVING A TRAY. IF
TRAYS ARE INSERTED BEFORE ALL MOVING PARTS HAVE
STOPPED, INJURY MAY RESULT OR THE INSTRUMENT MAY
MALFUNCTION.
CAUTION
If slides that do not match the operating mode of the instrument
are successfully processed on the instrument, the slides results
reporting for the print set will be invalid. All the slides in the print
set must be rerun on an instrument with the correct operating
mode.
