Chapter 2: BD FACS Loader Option 43
Cleaning External Surfaces
To keep the Loader free from salt buildup, wipe down all external surfaces that
have been exposed to sheath fluid.
Materials
• BD FACSClean solution
• DI water
• clean, lint-free cloths or disposable wipes
Procedure

Switch off the cytometer power and unplug the AC power cord from the
wall socket.

Wipe all accessible surfaces with BD FACSClean solution.
Ensure that the optical sensors are cleaned. Saline deposits can develop on
the sensors, causing tubes in the carousel to be missed.

Wet a fresh cloth with DI water and wipe all exposed surfaces to prevent
corrosion.

Wipe all exposed surfaces with a clean, dry cloth.
To avoid potential shock, always switch off the power and unplug the AC
power cord before you begin cleaning.
