From Service Test, press
ENT
to access the six tests available. The third displayed test, Barcode
Test, may be accessed by pressing
ENT
when this title appears (see Figure 7-3). If

pressed, the Service Test menu appears. If
MENU
is pressed, the unit goes on to the next test.

This screen takes multiple readings of bar code labels on tubes while they are in front of the reader.

If a bar code label is detected by the reader, the bar code number will flash repeatedly on the
display. As long as a bar code label can be read, the number read will continue flashing. If the
display remains stationary and unchanged, even with a bar code number on it, no label was
detected. If the letters
NG
?(No Good) appear after the bar code number, the instrument had
difficulty in reading the label. Press
STOP
to end the readings and return to the Barcode Test
display.
NOTE:
The barcode reader also has a green
揙
K?LED and red
揘
G?LED, used to test the readability of
the barcode reader and labels.

screen permits adjusting or moving the position of a tube rack to the left
(LEFT)
or right
(RIGHT)
by
moving the crossfeed arm (see item 32 on page 10.28) left or right.

The amount of movement may be set from 0.1 to 5.0mm. If it is set to 1.0mm, each time softkey
LEFT
is pressed, the crossfeed arm is moved 1mm to the left and moves a rack with it. Each time
softkey
RIGHT
is pressed, the crossfeed arm is moved 1mm to the right. The rack must then be
pushed by hand to the right to touch the crossfeed arm in its new position, since the arm cannot

ull?the rack backwards.

labels:
