16.
Install belt between Timing Pulley attached to Drive Shaft Assembly and the Timing Pulley attached
to the Bolt-On Takeup Reel Assembly (see Figures 3 and 6). Pull up on Mounting Bracket to tighten
belt. Set belt tension for a deflection of
one-quarter inch
(0.250") or
6mm
(see Figure 6). Then
tighten the three belt tensioning screws.
17.
Install all remaining parts as shown in Figure 3. The Bolt-On Takeup Reel (Figure 3 item 6) must be
installed with its opening slot pointing up to see how to insert and latch the Take Up Reel Shaft
(Figure 3 item 4). Install the Preamp PC Board.
18.
Install plastic tie wrap from retrofit kit onto the fiber optic bundle going from the readhead to the
Preamp PC Board. Install this tie wrap 3" beyond the vertical frame wall at a point near the center of
the used reagents on the takeup reel. This tie wrap holds the fiber optics away from the used
reagent roll.
19.
Install new Short Left Door and Short Lower Right Door onto Clinitek Atlas unit. Align doors to close
properly and to connect both magnets with the two door sensors. Transfer the Abbreviated User
Guide from the old to the new Short Left Door. Re-assemble instrument.
20.
Remove new Operating Manual from Rack Sample Handler Door Kit; remove this new manual's
Section Five and replace it with the Section Five insert in the Bolt-On Takeup Reel Retrofit Kit. Also
remove the update pages from the V5.00 Update Kit and use them to replace the same pages in the
new Operating Manual. Replace the customer's old operating manual with this new Operating
Manual.
21.
Replace program card with the Version 5.0 Program Card (if not already used on unit). Power up
system. Reload customer Setup options if the program card was replaced.
Additional
Setup
options on the Clinitek Atlas instrument and Rack Sample Handler must also be set
for the Rack Sample Handler, see new Operating Manual Section
Two.
Review these options with
the customer.
22.
From Manufacturing Support menu go to into the Mechanical Alignment menu and select "5. Takeup
Reel Type," then press the BOLT-ON soft function key.
23.
Turn instrument off and on again. Go to Main Menu and do a Load/Unload Reagents. Re-load
remainder of reagents onto the new Take-up reel, cutting the plastic to form a leader to fit into the
Removable Takeup Reel slot. Instruct customer to load the reagent
plastic
leader
to
the rear (or
back) of the Removable Takeup Reel slot.
24.
Go into Manufacturing Support Menu and enter Reagent Transport Diagnostics. In Reagent
Transport menu, select Set Strips Remaining and reset this number to an estimate of the remaining
strips (previous Strips Remaining total minus the strips used during the retrofit).
25.
Turn instrument off and on again and run Calibration and controls. Verify control results match
customer's control record results. Verify computer and/or printer interface output functions properly,
if used. Check that used reagents are spooling correctly on the takeup reel.
26.
Refer to the new Operating Manual to train customer on operation and maintenance of the new
system..
