maintenance.

Cleaning

•  Keep safety devices, ventilation openings

and the motor housing as free as possible
from dirt and dust. Rub the electric power
tool with a clean cloth or blow over it with
low pressure compressed air.

•  We recommend that you clean your elec-

tric power tool immediately after each use.

•  Clean the electric power tool regularly with

a damp cloth and somewhat soft soap. Do
not use any cleaning or solvent materials;
these can attack the device’s plastic com-
ponents. Make sure that no water can get
inside the electric power tool.

•  The cutters should be cleaned and lubri-

cated at regular intervals in order to ensure
best performance at all times. Remove

Vibration level

The vibration emission level stated in this
instruction manual has been measured in
accordance with a standardised test given in
EN 60745; it may be used to compare one tool
with another and as a preliminary assessment
of exposure to vibration when using the tool for
the applications mentioned.

using the tool for different applications, or
with different or poorly maintained
accessories, may significantly increase the
exposure level

the times when the tool is switched off or
when it is running but not actually doing
the job, may significantly reduce the
exposure level

Protect yourself against the effects of vibration
by maintaining the tool and its accessories,
keeping your hands warm, and organizing your
work patterns.

DISPOSAL

Do not dispose of electric power
tools with domestic refuse.

The electric power tool is shipped in

packaging to reduce transport damage. This
packaging is a raw material and as such can
either be reused or can be fed back into the

out where your nearest disposal area is.
Do not dispose of batteries with domestic
refuse.
Do not dispose of by burning, risk of explosion.

BEFORE FIRST USE

Remove the machine and the accessories from
the packaging. Check the machine for trans-
port damage and do not use the machine in
case of damages. Keep the packing materials
away from children, risk of suffocation!

INTENDED USE

Battery-powered, portable, light-duty garden
tool for cutting and trimming soft, new growth
of hedges, bushes and shrubs. The device is
unsuitable for cutting thicker branches, hard
wood or other materials.

WARNING:

If this device is used for any other

purpose, there may be a risk of damage to the
hedge trimmer or serious injury to the user.

UNPACKING YOUR TOOL

•  Carefully unpack and inspect your new

tool. Familiarise yourself with all its fea-
tures and functions.

•  Ensure that all parts of the tool are present

and in good condition. If any parts are
missing or damaged, have such parts
replaced before attempting to use this
tool.

OPERATION

WARNING:

ALWAYS wear eye protection,

adequate respiratory and hearing protection,
as well as suitable gloves, when working with
this tool.

WARNING:

If it is used for any other purpose

not expressly permitted by these operating
instructions, there may be a risk of damage to
the hedge trimmer or serious injury to the user.

WARNING:

DO NOT use the hedge trimmer in

the rain or store the hedge trimmer in wet
conditions.

WARNING:

Do not let the blade come into

contact with fencing wire or any other object
that could damage it.

Switching on and off

Note:

This hedge trimmer is fitted with a two-

hand safety switch.
1.  To switch the hedge trimmer on, press the

Safety Bar Switch

(4)

 on the front grip

(5)

with one hand and the on/off Switch

(6)

with the other hand.

2.  To stop the hedge trimmer, move the

hedge trimmer away from the cutting area
and release either one or both of the
switches.

Cutting

WARNING:

If the blade stalls during cutting,

stop the hedge trimmer immediately and dis-
connect it from the power supply, before inves-
tigating the cause. Then remove any jammed
debris from the blades and examine the blades
for any damage before recommencing cutting.
1.  Assume a secure position, using two

hands to hold the trimmer, and switch on
(see ‘Switching on and off’).

2.  ALWAYS allow the blade to reach full

speed before commencing the cut.

3.  Always move in a forward direction.

WARNING:

DO NOT move backwards, as you

may fall over unseen obstacles. DO NOT cut
towards solid objects such as walls, trees or
vehicles.
4.  Trim both sides of the hedge, starting at

the bottom.

5.  Pass the blade lightly through the surface

of the hedge. Do not attempt to cut too
deep.

6.  Trim the top of the hedge last.

Note:

For older hedges that require cutting

back substantially, use pruning shears or a
suitable saw to cut the thicker branches, and
then finish the job with the hedge trimmer.

Shaping

•  Trim a hedge so that it is wider at the

bottom than the top. This improves light
penetration and promotes healthy growth.

•  Narrow the hedge approximately 100mm

for every metre in height.

Pruning

•  For optimum trimming performance, guide

the blade teeth at an angle of approx. 15°
to the hedge.

•  To achieve a hedge with a uniform height,

it is recommended that you stretch a piece
of string along the edge of the hedge for
guidance. Then simply cut away all twigs
projecting above the line.
