H.1 Supported 3D model formats
H.1.1 General information
Supported formats for import
X-Agora supports .fbx, .obj, .dwg, .dxf, and .svg. Those file types can be separated in
two categories: modeling software formats (.fbx, .obj) and CAD drawing formats (.dwg,
.dxf and .svg). The most complete file format for X-Agora is .fbx, however you may not
have control over which of those formats can be used, because the models are usually
provided by an external source.
Importing DWG, SVG, and DXF models
X-Agora supports the importing of DWG, DXF, and SVG models, but the objects in
imported models with these formats have lines only; they do not have faces. This means
that no light or any other type of content (for example, media) will have any effect on
those objects in X-Agora. If, however, you wish to use a DWG model and you want
these functionalities to be available, convert the DWG model to FBX using Sketchup.
H.1.2 Guidelines for exporting from common applications
It does not matter from what application the 3D objects for your scenes are exported,
they are exported “as is.” If you use the OBJ format the objects are exported as a single
centered object, and the relative positions of the objects from each other are not alterable.
If you intend to export multiple objects, and if you intend to change their positions, the
FBX format is recommended.
You can measure objects in X-Agora in any units, but all objects should be exported in
meters, otherwise certain objects may not be scaled properly. The units in X-Agora can
be modified in the Projection study section of the project's Properties pane. See
Figure H.1,
