Electrical requirements for the X-series display
Power requirements
One X-series tile requires 100-240 VAC, 16 A, 50-60 Hz, X2/X4: 0.55 A at 230 VAC, X1.6/X1.9: 0.85 A at 230 VAC. Note that one
X2 tile corresponds with a display surface of 0.16 m² and one X1.6/1.9 tile corresponds with a display surface of 0.18 m². Power
cables are used to link the power from tile to tile. However, MAXIMUM (see table under 7.2) may be connected in parallel. So, one
power source cable has to be provided per (see table under 7.2). Every power source cable should be protected by a circuit breaker
or fuses rated 16 A / 250 VAC (15 A / 250 VAC in the USA and Canada).
Low Voltage Surge Protection Device required
Due to the damaging effects of lightning, utility switching and switching electric motors of other users on the mains, this product
needs to be protected by means of a Surge Protection Device. If this product is connected to the mains through the power box
from Barco this protection device is already incorporated and no extra measures need to be taken. If this product is connected to
the mains through a power distribution box from another party, please verify that a Low Voltage Surge Protection Device according
EN61643-11 or UL 1449 is in place.
Barco provides a range of power boxes, which meet the requirements of your X-series display. Contact Barco
for more information about power boxes and power requirements for your X-series display.
Power system:
It is recommended to use a TN-S power distribution system (a power distribution system with a separate neutral and grounding
conductor) in order to avoid large ground current loops due to voltage differences in the neutral conductor. The total electrical
installation should be protected by an appropriately rated disconnect switch, circuit breakers, over voltage protector and Ground Fault
Current Interrupters. The installation shall be done according to the local electrical installation codes. In Europe special attention
should be given to EN 60364, the standard for electrical installation of buildings. In Germany VDE 0100 should be adhered to. In
America, special attention should be given to the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
Disconnect device:
When the appliance inlets of the individual tiles are not accessible, the socket outlets supplying the rack shall be installed near the
equipment and be easily accessible, or a readily accessible general disconnect device shall be incorporated in the
fi
xed wiring.
This equipment MUST be earthed:
In order to protect against risk of electric shock, the installation should be properly grounded. Defeating the purpose of the grounding
type plug will expose you to the risk of electric shock.
