3. Getting started
3.1
Installation requirements
Environment conditions
Table below summarizes the physical environment in which the DP2K-S series projector may be safely operated or stored.
Environment
Operating
Non-Operating
Ambient Temperature
10°C (50°F) to 35°C (95°F)
-15°C (5°F) to 60°C (140°F)
Humidity
5% to 85% RH Non-condensed
5% to 95% RH Non-Condensed
Altitude
-60 (-197Ft) to 3000m (9843Ft)
-60 (-197Ft) to 10000m (32810Ft)
Let the projector acclimatize after unpacking. Neglecting this may result in a startup failure of the Light Pro-
cessor Unit.
Cooling requirements
The projector is fan cooled and must be installed with suf
fi
cient space around the projector head, minimum 20 cm (8 inch) to ensure
suf
fi
cient air
fl
ow. It should be used in an area where the ambient temperature, as measured at the projector air inlet, does not
exceed 35°C (95°F).
The projector is capable of autonomous, stand alone cooling. Two exhaust options are possible:
1.
REAR EXHAUST (Option):
Simply expel the hot air via the back housing into the room/booth/cabin.
In this case an external exhaust system is not required.
2.
TOP EXHAUST (Standard):
Attach the standard exhaust stack [positioned towards the top/back of the projector and designed
to
fi
t a 201mm (7.91inch) diameter duct] to the air extraction system. This
fl
ow size must be used throughout the entire system
and installed to eliminate any possibility of downdraft or rain dripping into the projector.
In this case the installation of an
external exhaust system
is
MANDATORY
for safety reasons (possible direct eye contact
with UV light of the xenon lamp). The installed exhaust blower must remove an air volume of minimum
4m
3
/min (140 CFM)
measured at the exhaust output of the projector. Although not obligatory, Barco also advises to limit the amount of extraction to
a maximum of 5m
3
/min (180 CFM). Excessive air extraction can dramatically speed-up contamination of the projector air inlet
fi
lters, hence requiring more regular
fi
lter cleaning interventions.
•
If the projector is installed into a “
sound box
” the following applies: minimum extraction requirement for the complete projector:
7m
3
/min (240CFM), maximum advised extraction requirement: 8m
3
/min (280 CFM).
•
If dual stacking applies, ensure that the upper projector is thermally insulated from the bottom projector. Typically in dual stack-
ing the bottom projector is installed with a “rear exhaust”.
•
An external frame must be used to stack projectors.
•
Where the projectors are installed close to each other, ensure that the projectors do not thermally affect each other.
C
AUTION
:
If more than one projector is installed in a common projection booth, the above exhaust air
fl
ow
requirements are valid for EACH individual projector head exhaust stack. Note that inadequate air extraction
will result in decreased life expectancy of the projector as a whole as well as causing premature xenon lamp
failure.
Main Power requirements
The DP2K-S series projector operates from a nominal mono phase power net with a separate earth ground PE.
Projector
Power requirements
DP2K-10S
200-240 VAC, 50-60Hz, 16A at 200 VAC
DP2K-10Sx
200-240 VAC, 50-60Hz, 16A at 200 VAC
The power cord required to connect the projector with the power net is not delivered with the projector. It is the responsibility of the
customer to provide the correct type of power cord. The cross-sectional area of the conductors in the power supply cord shall not
be less than
2.5mm
2
(12AWG)
, minimum 300V. Take into account that the cable gland allows a cable diameter from 8 to 13mm.
To protect operating personnel, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) recommends that the instrument panel
and cabinet be grounded. In no event shall this projector be operated without an adequate cabinet ground connection.
The AC supply must be installed by a quali
fi
ed electrician in conformance to local codes. Hardware, wire sizes and conduit types
must comply with local codes.
A readily accessible disconnect device shall be incorporated externally to the equipment for removal of the power to the equipment
mains terminals.
