BIOS setting Function Configuration options Effect
Disabled Disables this function Intel ® SpeedStep ™ Option for controlling Intel ® SpeedStep ™ Tech-
nology. The processor clock speed is increased
or decreased according to the number of calcu-
lations that must be made. As a result, the pow-
er consumption depends largely on the proces-
sor load.
Enabled The processor speed is regulated by the oper-
ating system.
Max performance Maximum CPU and graphics speed Boot performance mode Option for setting the CPU speed

This setting can be changed in ACPI
operating systems by activating Intel®
SpeedStep ™ Technology.
Max battery Throttles down the CPU and graphics speed
Disabled Disables Intel ® Turbo Boost Technology Intel ® Turbo Boost Tech-
nology
Option for enabling/disabling Intel ® Turbo Boost
Technology.
The clock frequency of the processor cores can
be increased beyond the predefined clock fre-
quency if the processor's limit value for power
consumption, current strength and temperature
are not exceeded.
Enabled Enables Intel ® Turbo Boost Technology
Disabled Disables this function C-States This setting allows the operating system to set
the processor clock speed on its own, thereby
saving energy.
Enabled Enables this function. Additional settings can be
selected.
Disabled Disables this function Enhanced C-States

This setting enables/disables the C1E, C2E and
C4E states.
Enabled Enables C1E, C2E and C4E. The processor
is operated at minimum speed as soon as all
cores enter the C-State.
C7 Maximum C-State C7. CPU voltage is switched
off completely.
C6 Maximum C-State C6. CPU voltage is reduced
to nearly 0 V.
C4 Maximum C-State C4. CPU voltage is reduced
and the level 1 and level 2 cache are emptied.
Max C-States
1)
This setting monitors the maximum C-State that
the processor can support.
C1 Maximum C-State C1. Processor is in sleep
mode, switch between C0 and C1.
