Task
Here, the data container received from the data interface is read. The data container may contain an UTF-8
encoded reference value of arbitrary length. The read in reference value can subsequently be compared to the
read code (see section
Analysis ).

How data packages must be formatted to be received by this tool, is described in chapter Connection to the
customer control system .
NOTE
It does not wait until data is being received. You can ensure, that received data is available when the
tool is executed, by sending the data container before triggering. This is only reliable, if data container
and trigger are sent via the same communication channel; a mix of data container via UDP/TCP with a
trigger via digital input is therefore not recommended.

NOTE
If Unicode characters are contained in the reference value, note that the presupposed UTF-8 encoding
format encodes different characters with varying sequence length. While the Yen sign (¥) is represented
by the sequence 0xC2,0xA5 of length two, the Euro sign (€) consists of the sequence
0xE2,0x82,0xA0
of length three. Using UTF-8 strings with variable byte lengths, the user-defined
string length must represent the maximum string length of all UTF-8 strings to be read. If the byte
length of the reference value to be sent falls below the user-defined maximum string length, the user
has to pad the sent data with zeros such that the length of the sent reference value matches the user-
defined maximum string length.
Additionally, when including the UTF-8 Byte Order Mark (BOM)
0xEF,0xBB,0xBF
or the UTF-8
Extended Channel Interpretation indicator (ECI) \000026 into the encoded matrix code value, the
length of the read input string has to be adapted accordingly.

