7.5.1 Measurement Data Channel
The BML passes the measured position via the
measurement value to the IO-Link master. The
measurement value can be adjusted to the respective
application using the following parameters.

1)
Minimum and maximum value for the configured measurement range.
The measurement value may exceed these limits due to the detection
range.
2)
These values are required for the data storage functionality and should
not be changed. The measurement area can be adjusted using the
Range-Teach
commands.
Tab. 7-7: Parameter data MDC
The parameters can mutually influence each
other. Therefore it is recommended to make the
settings in the following sequence:
Range
Teach, Output Characteristics, Offset/Preset
Teach
.
Range Teach
The measuring range of the BML can be restricted using a
Range Teach
. This function uses the system commands
Teach Range Minimum
and
Teach Range Maximum
. In
the newly set measuring range the limits of the output
value can be found in the parameter
MDC Describer
.
Output Characteristics
Use the parameter
Output Characteristics
to change the
signal direction of the data value. The signal is reflected
within the set measuring range.
Setting the offset
The output value can be given an offset. The desired value
can be written to the
Offset
parameter. The BML adds this
value to the value of the measured position and outputs it.
Preset Teach
The Preset Teach function allows the offset value to be
automatically calculated.
1.
Write the desired output value to the
Preset
parameter.
2.
Move the head to the desired position.
3.
Execute the
Teach Preset
system command.
4.
The BML calculates the offset so that the preset value
is output at the arrived position.
Changing the measurement value configuration
affects the switching response. The switching
signal configuration (see Sec. 7.5.2) may need
to be repeated.
