Checking the Cables
Caution: The electrode cable should be checked regularly for cracks and wear.
Caution: Use the electrode cable supplied by B-K Medical when using the ECG
module.
Using ECG
When using ECG in B-mode, a graphical recording of the patient’s electrocardiogram is
overlaid on the ultrasound image. If you are using Doppler, CW Doppler or M-mode, the
ECG curve will be overlaid on the Doppler, CW Doppler or M-mode image.
To turn ECG on and off:
•
Click on ECG under Image on the right side of the screen.
NOTE:
Pressing
[
C
]
will also turn off ECG.
Sweep Speed
You can adjust the time it takes for the ECG curve to sweep from left to right across
the image.
To adjust sweep speed:
•
Click Sweep on the right side of the screen and drag to select the required speed.
The available values range from 2 seconds to 8 seconds.
ECG Size
You can change the size of the displayed ECG curve.
To adjust ECG size:
•
Click Size on the right side of the screen and drag to select the required size.
The available values range from 0 (smallest) to 2 (largest).
ECG Offset
ECG offset changes the position of the displayed ECG curve.
WARNING Do not use on a patient who has a cardiac pacemaker fitted.
WARNING The clips for attaching the electrodes to the patient are color-coded. When
attaching the electrodes, ensure that the correct color matches the correct body part:
•
red - right arm
•
yellow - left arm
•
black - right leg
