The Azden SGM-990+i is a directional “zoom” microphone with 2 switchable sound pick-up patterns,

"Long" and "Short." Use "Long" to focus on your sound source or to better pick up sound from a distance.

Use "Short" for when your sound source is close or covers a broader field. Both settings will provide

rejection of unwanted sound from the sides and the back.

BATTERY:

Unscrew the lower half of the microphone by turning the

case counter clockwise. Insert one AAA battery into the

case. Check for correct polarity. Replace the case and turn

clockwise to tighten. Do not over tighten or you may

damage the threads.

MICROPHONE HOLDER:

Snap the microphone into the holder towards the back of the case. Slide the holder onto the

shoe mount of the camera and tighten the wheel until snug. Do not over tighten or you may

damage the threads.

WINDSCREEN:

Slide the windscreen over the front end of the microphone and cover all the vents on the

case.

OUTPUT CABLE:

Plug the microphone’s output cable into the “Ext. Mic” input jack on your camera.

ADAPTER CABLE:

Use the included TRRS adapter cable to make the microphone compatible with

smartphones and tablets.

POWER & POSITION SWITCHES:

Turn the microphone power switch to “ON” and turn the position switch to LONG or SHORT,

whichever is best for your application.

When not in use turn the microphone “OFF” to avoid draining the battery.
