Chapter 3: Maintenance and Troubleshooting
This chapter provides information on replacing the battery in the Signal Sidearm sensor,
troubleshooting, and contact information for Technical Support.
Note:
Extended exposure to concentrated amounts of sunscreen can cause cracks in the Signal
Sidearm device plastic housing. If you notice cracks in your device, please contact Technical
Support.
Battery Replacement
There are two ways to know when it’s time to replace the sensor’s battery:
• The LED blinks red when entering in Mute Mode.
• You are sent a notification email from Axon Evidence.com.
Follow these steps to replace the battery.
You will need a Torx T6 screwdriver, which was provided to your agency at the time of purchase,
and a new CR2430 battery.
1
If your pistol and holster are on your duty belt, put the sensor in Mute Mode and safely
remove your pistol.
2
Remove the top and bottom screws that attach the sensor to the bracket, as shown in
Figure A.
3
Remove the four outer screws to take the sensor apart, as shown in Figure B.
4
Open the snaps, shown in Figure C, by placing the blade of a flat head screw driver into the
slot and twist the blade. The snap will release easily.
5
Replace the CR2430 battery and reassemble the sensor as shown in Figure D.
When the sensor has a new battery, the sensor automatically enters Test Mode. If the sensor
does not detect any activity after being in Test Mode for 30 seconds, it enters Low Power
Mode.
6
Re-attach the sensor to the bracket with the screws removed in Step 2.
