please contact Avocent Technical Support.

1

Connecting local peripherals

Turn off all servers you plan to use with
your SwitchView SC120/220/140/240
switching system. Plug the VGA monitor
cable into the appropriate CONSOLE
port on the back of the switch. Plug
the USB or PS/2 keyboard cable and
USB or PS/2 mouse cable into the
appropriate ports.

2

Connecting your servers

The SwitchView SC120/220 switching
system has two ports labeled PC1-PC2,
and the SwitchView 140/240 switching
system has four ports labeled PC1-PC4
on the rear of the switch. Plug the USB
cable or two PS/2 cables and the VGA
cable (monitor) into the corresponding
ports on the server. Plug the other ends
into one of the server port sets on the
switch. Repeat for all servers.

Switching your servers

Press the corresponding front panel
button, labeled 1-2 on the SC120/220
switch or 1-4 on the SC140/240 switch,
to access servers in your SwitchView
switching system.

seals. Broken or removed seals will void
the warranty.

Using the front panel card reader

port

SwitchView SC220/240 switches are
equipped with a front panel USB port to
support Smart Card/Common Access
Card (CAC) functionality. Front panel
push-buttons allow you to switch KVM
sessions and the card reader together.

NOTE: An applicable USB CCID
[Integrated Circuit(s) Cards Interface
Devices] driver must be installed on the
target server to use this feature.

NOTE: Do not insert a Smart Card/
CAC into the reader until the switch is
fully configured and turned on.

LEDs
Each target port has two LEDs on
the front panel. The green LED will
light when the target device is on and
connected to the switch. The amber
LED will light when the target device is
selected (KVM session).
