Terminal Operations
Accessing the Terminal Menu
You can configure an AMX switch at the unit level through the Terminal port. All terminal
commands are accessed through a terminal or PC running terminal emulation software.
To access the Terminal Applications menu:
Connect a terminal or PC running terminal emulation software (such as HyperTerminal) to the
configuration port on the AMX switch using the supplied null modem cable. The terminal should
be set to:
•
9600 baud
•
8 bits
•
1 stop bit
•
no parity
•
no flow control
The terminal may be connected at any time, even when the unit is powered.
The first time you access the switch, you are prompted to enter a username. Enter the username
admin
and press
Enter
. Once you have access to the AMX switch terminal applications menu, you
can configure a password for the serial port should you wish to do so.
Terminal Applications menu commands
The AMX switch Terminal Applications menu features five selections: Network Configuration,
System Management, Set/Change Password, SNMP Configuration and Exit.
Network Configuration
The AMX switch is configured for network access through this option. Selecting this option
provides you access to the addressing that positions the AMX switch in your network.
NOTE:
Both the AMWorks software and the AMX switch must be on the same subnet in class A, B or C to
function properly.
