Configuring Command for MOS Redirection
176
load the ENPS rundown to the backup Command Server in the event of a primary server failure. It is
the equivalent of loading an Newsroom Management rundown to the backup server, but this
workflow requires a little more configuration.
To configure Command for MOS redirection:
1. In ENPS, configure the primary and backup Command MOS IDs.
2. Click the Start button and select Programs > Avid > Service Framework > Avid Service
Configuration.
3. On the Hosts tab, navigate to and select the Avid MOS Communication Service running on the
backup server.
4. Enter the MOSID for the backup server.
5. Click Apply.
6. Restart the service by going to the backup Command Server.
a.
Click the Start button and select Programs > Avid > Service Framework > Avid Workgroup
Properties.
b.
Click the Advanced button and select the MOS Communication service.
c.
Click Restart.
After your configuration is complete, you can confirm MOS redirection functionality.
n
You can test MOS redirection at any time; it does not require the primary server to be down.
To confirm MOS redirection functionality:
1. Make a rundown MOS Active and Ready to Air, confirming that it appears in the Command
Workstation.
2. Open the rundown’s Properties dialog box.
3. Deselect the MOS Control Active checkbox.
4. Click Apply.
5. In the MOS Redirection text box, enter the group name followed by an equal sign (=) and the
MOS ID for the backup server. The syntax is:
<
group name
>=<
backup MOS ID
>
6. Select the MOS Control Active checkbox.
7. Click Apply and then Go.
8. Confirm that the rundown appears in the Command Workstation.
When you need to direct MOS traffic to the backup server, disconnect from the primary server
and connect to the backup server via MOS redirection in ENPS.
For instance, enter
avid=enps.command2.mos
in the MOS Redirection field, then check MOS
Control Active, and click Go. The sample equation tells ENPS that any device in the rundown
starting with “avid” should get redirected to the MOS backup system with the MOS ID of
“enps.command2.mos”.
n
Avid recommends the MOS Redirection steps be posted in the control room so that users can
reference them quickly. It’s also recommended you do a MOS redirection periodically to practice the
steps.
For more information, see documentation that came with your third-party ENPS system.
