Checking the Kit Contents
Unpack and check the contents of the kit to ensure you have all the necessary parts.
The kit contains:
•
A 3D Effects cover with the processor boards
•
A Python effects card
•
An interface cable
•
A SCSI cable
•
Software disks
•
A grounding wrist-strap and screwdriver
Loading Software
Before you begin installing the 3D Effects hardware, load the new version of the
software provided in the 3D Effects kit onto your Macintosh. Follow the software
installation instructions in the Read Me First guide supplied with the software.
Checking for an Available SCSI ID
Before you power off the system and begin connecting the 3D Effects cover, you
need to determine which SCSI IDs on the Macintosh SCSI bus are not currently in
use.
To check the SCSI IDs, complete the following steps:
1. Use the SExpressIV utility to check the SCSI IDs. Double-click the SExpressIV
icon in the Utilities folder to display the ATTO SiliconExpress IV control
panel. Figure 34 on page 49 shows the control panel. For each ID, the panel
lists the type, vendor, and revision code. Note that ID 7 is for the Macintosh.
▲
Older versions of the SExpress application (prior to version 2.0) do not work
with new SE IV cards. They also don’t work with the SE IVD cards.
2. On the ATTO Silicon Express control panel, click the Slot button until
Macintosh is displayed at ID 7.
