Using the Monitor Loader
1. Copy the INDeX software file to the Kermit directory on your PC.
2. Connect your PC to the INDeX system's port 1 (right hand connector when
viewed from front of cabinet). Open Kermit and log on as normal (see page 20).
Set the speed of the INDeX 30 port to 9600
.
Ensure that a display phone is
visible from your PC station.
3. Perform a system
Shutdown
(from
the Administration
, select
Channel
Information
and
Shutdown
). Type,
ex
and then
↵
to set cursor at top left of
screen.
4. Disconnect the INDeX 30 power supply and wait approximately 10 seconds.
Reconnect the INDeX 30 power supply and, when INDeX appears on the display
phone, immediately type
CJW
(in upper case and within 3 seconds).
The screen displays the "Monitor Loader" header and the
:
monitor prompt.
5. Type
Z
. The system asks if you want to erase the existing software, answer
Y
.
6. When the erase has completed, the
:
symbol reappears.
7. Set the INDeX 30 port to match the highest baud rate your PC supports.
Press

for 19200 baud or
6
for 9600 baud.

at the same time, then press
C
.
9. Type
set baud 38400
(or the baud rate set above for the INDeX) and press

.
10. Press
C
and then
↵
to return to the system connection.

L
. The display shows
Kermit upload
. Wait for
# N3
to appear.
12. Press
Ctrl
and

at the same time, press
C
.
13. Type
SEND
and press
↵
.
14. The system requests the
"Local Source File"
. Enter the name of the software
file to be uploaded (
PA
) and press
↵
.
15. The system requests the
"Remote Destination File"
. Enter
PA.
The display
shows the progress of the upload.
Wait for completion.
16. The PC beeps on completion of the upload and displays the Kermit prompt.
17. Type
FIN
and press
↵
.
18. Type
C
and press
↵
twice. The
:
prompt should reappear.
19.
Type
P
to load the uploaded software into the system's flash memory. Check
that a line of dots appears with no 'X's in it. If there are any 'X's the software
upload has failed and the procedure must be repeated from step 4 above.
20. Type
X
to restart the system. The system should restart after 30 seconds. The
"System Restart"
message is displayed (which will show the time and date of
the restart).
21. Press
↵
and log on again. (You may have to reset your PC's port speed back to
9600 to log on again.)
22. You can now program the new INDeX software features.
