Verifying connectivity
To verify that the Ethernet port is working, ping the FTP server where the backup file(s) are
stored.
To verify connectivity
1. On the Maintenance Web Interface, under Diagnostics click
Ping
.
2. Enter the IP address where the backup files are stored.
3. Click
Execute Ping
.
If the ping is successful, continue with restoring the system files. Otherwise, check the IP
address and connectivity to the server.
Disabling RAM disk on the media server
You must disable RAM disk prior to restoring the S8300 configuration data. To disable RAM
disk, perform the following steps:
1. Access the server’s command line interface using an SSH client, like PuTTY, and an IP
address of
192.11.13.6
.
2. At the command line, type
sudo ramdisk -v -f disabled
, and press
Enter
.
The system does not display any information to the screen if there are no errors.
3. At the command line, type
ramdisk -v -s
and press
Enter
.
Rebooting the media server
To reboot the media server, perform the following steps:

Be sure the DVD/CD-ROM drive is not connected.
1. On the Maintenance Web Interface, under Server select
Shutdown Server
.
2. Select the
Delayed Shutdown
option. Also, be sure the
Restart server after shutdown
checkbox is selected.
3. Click the
Shutdown
button.
Click
OK
to confirm.
4. At the command line, type
ramdisk -v -s
and press
Enter
.
Confirm that the system has disabled RAM disk.
