Operating the AVT-3400
Operating the AVT-3400 is intuitive and easily learned. The operation at the unit
itself is accomplished via the buttons mounted within the case. Although easily
learned due the clear labeling of the functions, operating the unit via these
buttons is also a rather limited way to operate the unit because all functions are
not available from these buttons.
Since virtually all users will operate the unit via the remote control to gain
complete control over its functions, it is recommended that you take the time to
discover where the various buttons are located on the remote by looking at the
actual remote and comparing it to the diagram above.
Like the manual controls on the unit, the labeling is clear for the majority of the
functions. Pressing the c/- buttons is rather intuitive since an up arrow
will surely result in increasing the channel number and pressing the down arrow
will likewise select a lower channel. The use of the volume control buttons and
the input selection button is also clear.
The main area of confusion with the remote control revolves around Menu Item
selection and a few special function buttons. We’ll spend a few moments
explaining how to navigate the menu and also reveal what the special purpose
buttons are attempting to do.
5.1 “Top’ Menu
When you first press the Menu button on your remote, you will see a list of seven
items appear on the monitor. This is the initial or
‘Top’
menu and the function to
be changed will need to be highlighted. The procedure for moving up and down
the list is explained below.
