AudioCodes™ MP-100/104 Gateway Quick Start Installation Guide
March 2004
AUDIOCODES MP-104 GATEWAY INSTALLATION
This section describes how to install and configure the AudioCodes MP-104 gateway, shown
below.
The AudioCodes MP-104 FXO gateway supports up to four loop start line (FXO - foreign
exchange office) ports. Although the MP-104 is similar to the MP-100, each gateway uses a
different switch type for configuring the device. The MP-100 uses DIP switches, and the MP-
104 uses a command line switch (-fb) (see
). For details about command-line switches,
refer to the
MP-104 User’s Manual & Installation Guide
.
The MP-104 on a v8.x IPRC firmware supports the peer-to-peer (P2P) audio feature. This fea-
ture allows certain IP and SIP devices to transmit and receive audio directly with each other.
With this feature, the audio is not transmitted or received through the system cabinet. This
reduces delay and removes the audio stream from the Time Division Mulitplex (TDM) high-
way.
To use P2P audio:
•
The devices must be members of the same Network Group.
•
The IPRC and IP devices must be upgraded to version 8.1 firmware. (SIP endpoints do
not require firmware upgrades.)
•
The devices must terminate on an IPRC with v8.x firmware.
•
There cannot be a NAT or firewall between the communicating devices.
•
For SIP endpoints, the latest version of SIP Server (v1.1 or later) must be installed.
Because the devices are not using cabinet resources, devices connected in a P2P call cannot
use the following features:
•
Agent Help
•
Record-A-Call
•
Station Monitor
The MP-104 on a v8.x IPRC firmware also does not support the following features:
•
Tick Tone as an audio source for CO calls. This is normally used for features that
require audio sources, such as the Music-On-Hold feature.
•
Pause digits. These digits are normally used to program a speed-dial or other digit
string.
NOTE:
The MP-104 must be running software version 4.2 or later when connected to an IPRC
running version 8.1 firmware.
