Regardless how you want the keypad to work, either normally or as a Party Group controller the following
steps apply.
When you have selected one of the above options, such as NORMAL INPUT, press the > button. The
display will then read the first input option, INPUT 0 and then IN SOURCE 1.
Here, the IN SOURCE # refers to the sixteen possible input labels in order as the MC-6011 can access all
sixteen inputs on a Suite 16 (it is not limited to just eight source buttons like the MC-5500 and MC-4500).
Using the Up and Dn buttons you can advance through these potential inputs.
Also here, the INPUT # refers to the physical connection on the Suite 8x8 or Suite 16. Basically put, you
can link any input label to any A/V jack. On an MC-5500 or MC-4500, the link would seem to be more
physical because a keypad’s source button would be directly linked to a input connection on the Suite 8x8
or Suite 16. Either way, the concept is the same.
Typically, IN SOURCE 1 will be linked to INPUT 1, IN SOURCE 2 linked to INPUT 2, etc. However, there
may be occasions in which you will want to alter a link or input. In particular, since the MC-6011 can
access up to sixteen inputs, you may want to have certain inputs skipped over (not seen by the user). This
is extremely important if a) you don’t have that many components or b) you want certain rooms to be
unable to access inputs available in other rooms.
Input 0 or any of the party group inputs that read 0 refer to no source selection at all. If an IN SOURCE #
is set to INPUT 0, then it will be skipped over. If for example, input labels 7-16 (IN SOURCE 7-16) are all
set to INPUT 0, then the keypad will only scroll through inputs 1-6 when the user presses the Up an Dn
buttons. A keypad can also be set to skip over inputs. For example, if input labels 1-5 and 9-12 are audio
sources accessible everywhere and inputs 6, 7 and 8 are video sources that need not be accessed in the
powder room, the powder room MC-6011 could be set to access inputs 1-6 and 9-12 only, skipping over
the unwanted video inputs. If the keypad is displaying input 6 and the user presses the Up button, the
display would advance to the input 9 source name. Again here, IN SOURCE 7-8 and 13-16 would need to
be set to INPUT 0.
To change input connection assignments, use the >> and << buttons. To advance to another input label,
use the Up and Dn buttons. When you have an assignment linked that you want to save, you must press
the SEL button. The keypad will echo INPUT OK and revert to cycling between the INPUT # and the IN
SOURCE #. Changing between sources does not display the current link. Use Check Setup to verify
existing Source Input links.
Source Control
To advance to the SOURCE CNTRL option you need to be on the top layer. To get there press the ||
button repeatedly. Then press the << or >> button until the display reads SOURCE CNTRL and then
press the > button. The display will read IR LEARNER. To advance to one of the following, press the >>
or << buttons. To return to the previous level, press the || button.
IR LEARNER - ADA TUNER - SPECIAL CD - LVI - NO FUNCTION
The above five options refer to the various source control options that are built into the MC-6011 keypad.
By moving the >> or << so that the display reads IR LEARNER, you are ready to lock in sources to an IR
LEARNER port. Press > to select the IR LEARNER while it is displayed.
