ATL Berkshire POE Module 
Quick Start Guide

 

 
Thank you for purchasing your ATL Berkshire POE Module. This 
module enables the Berkshire 5000 IP telephone to operate on an 
Ethernet network without the need for local mains power. Before you 
start you need to ensure that your network supports “Power Over 
Ethernet”.

 

 
BERKSHIRE IP TELEPHONES 

Your Berkshire POE Module is supplied for use only with the 
Berkshire 5000 IP telephone. It is important to note that its use to 
power other IP telephones or other equipment of any kind will void 
the guarantee, may result in damage to your Berkshire POE Module 
and presents a potential safety hazard.

 

 
CONNECTING YOUR BERKSHIRE POE MODULE 

To convert a Berkshire 5000 IP telephone from operating with a PSU 
to operating with POE please complete the following steps:- 

1.  Unplug all the existing cables from the Berkshire IP telephone 

2.  Unplug the PSU from the mains socket and remove it 

3.  Unclip the Desk Bracket from the underside of the Berkshire IP 

telephone 

4.  Clip the Berkshire POE Module to the underside of the 

Berkshire IP telephone  

5.  Plug the 6 Vdc power jack of the Berkshire POE Module into 

the socket on the Berkshire IP telephone labelled “DC6V” 

6.  Plug the RJ45 ethernet plug of the Berkshire POE Module into 

the socket on the Berkshire IP telephone labelled “LAN” 

7.  Plug the LAN cable that is connected to the network into the 

port marked “LAN” on the Berkshire POE Module 

8.  Ensure that the network port to which the Berkshire POE 

Module is connected supports “Power Over Ethernet” and that it 
is enabled.
