personal or household use. Swinton Avenue Trading, Inc. (SAT) warrants its products will be free
from defects in materials and workmanship (normal wear and tear excepted), for three (3) years from

Thank you for purchasing this Ativa 6 sheet diamond cut paper shredder. Please
read all operation instructions carefully and keep this manual for future reference.
Installation
Mount the shredder securely to the rim of the wastebasket. This paper shredder includes
a built-in safety mechanism that requires the shredder to be correctly mounted on the
supplied wastebasket for it to operate. Then plug the power cord into any standard 115V
AC outlet. The shredder is now ready to be used.
Attach the shredder head 1 to the wastebasket 2 .
Care and Use
Using the slide switch located on the top of the shredder, select one of the following
settings.
AUTO:
This setting allows the shredder to automatically start when paper is inserted into
the shredding throat.
Always feed the paper in as straight as possible. When the paper has passed through, the
shredder will stop. Shred no more than 6 sheets of paper at one time.
REV:
In the unlikely event of a paper jam, the reverse setting can be used to help clear
the cutters of paper that has not passed through. Never attempt to clear a jam by using
the reverse function when the wastebasket is full.
OFF:
This setting turns off all features of the shredder. For safety reasons, we
recommend that you leave the power switch in the “OFF” position whenever the shredder
is unattended or not in use.

For optimal shredder performance, lubricate your shredder blades every 2-3 weeks with
Office Depot brand shredder lubricant sheets (item # 340-960) or Office Depot brand
shredder lubricant oil (item # 285-661).
♦
Only use oil or lubricants which are clearly specified for shredder use.
♦
Never apply a spray or aerosol oil lubricant directly to the blades or shredder motor as
this
could lead to a fire hazard.
♦
To oil your shredder, shred a pre-lubricated shredder sheet, then switch the shredder
into reverse to distribute the lubricant across the cutting blades. This should be done
every 2-3 weeks, depending on your usage. Alternatively, you may spray shredder oil
onto a sheet of paper, shred the sheet, then switch the shredder into reverse to
distribute the lubricant across the cutting blades.
Child-Resistant Switch
Designed with the home user in mind, the child-resistant switch was developed to deter small
children from using the shredder. Quick and easy for an adult to operate, the switch will help
prevent usage by children.

recomendamos que el botón esté siempre en la posición "OFF" cuando la trituradora no
esté en uso o esté desatendida.

Para un mayor rendimiento de la trituradora, lubrique las navajas cada 2 o 3 semanas con
hojas lubricantes Office Depot (artículo núm. 340-960) o aceite lubricante para trituradoras

The child resistant feature is only activated when the switch is in the OFF position.
Be sure to turn your shredder to the OFF position when you are not supervising usage.
Never let a child operate a shredder.
To operate the shredder, depress the Shred guard Child-Resistant Switch and slide to the
appropriate setting :
OFF :
This setting turns off the shredder. Always return the switch to this position when you are
not using the shredder.
AUTO :
Begins to shred once the appropriate material is inserted in the feed slot. To use the
child-resistant feature, do not leave switch in the Auto position when shredder is unattended.
REV:
Changes the direction of the shredding mechanism to reverse out any material that may
be jammed in the feeder.
Trouble Shooting
♦
Attempting to shred more than 6 sheets could lead to paper jams. If a jam occurs and the
cutter ceases operation please press the power switch to “REV” and pull out the jammed
paper.
♦
If the paper jams in the blades, please turn off the power switch and unplug the power cord
of the unit from the AC outlet and clean all paper at the entrance and exit of the throat.
♦
If the shredder is run continuously for a long period of time and the motor overheats, a
safety thermal switch will automatically shut off the unit. If this happens, turn the power
switch to the “OFF” position for 10 minutes or more before continuing.

DO NOT PLACE FINGERS TOO CLOSE TO THE SHREDDING THROAT AS SERIOUS

DO NOT
attempt to open this unit by yourself as doing so may expose you to sharp cutting
blades and / or high voltage electrical shock which could cause serious injury and will void
the manufacturers warranty.

Do not alter the unit or power cord in any way. Do not operate the unit if it or the power
cord appears damaged in any way.

Never place the shredder near water or any heat source.
♦
Always turn the shredder off and unplug the power cord from the AC outlet before cleaning
it, moving it, emptying the wastebasket or not using it for an extended period of time.

Shredding paper, envelopes, or labels with a sticky substance like glue may lead to paper
jams. Do not shred any wet paper, carbon paper, or vinyl bags. The shred will stick in the
cutter and may lower the shredding performance.
♦
Please empty the wastebasket regularly to ensure that the shredder exit does not become
blocked with paper.
♦
One folded sheet of paper equals 2 sheets of paper.

Installation
Fixez solidement la déchiqueteuse sur le bord de la corbeille à papier. Cette
déchiqueteuse est dotée d'un mécanisme de sécurité intégré ne fonctionnant que lorsque
la déchiqueteuse est montée sur la corbeille à papier fournie. Ensuite, branchez le cordon
d'alimentation à une prise standard de 115 V CA. La déchiqueteuse est désormais prête à

Utilisation et entretien
À l'aide de l'interrupteur à glissière situé sur la déchiqueteuse, sélectionnez l'une des
fonctions suivantes.
AUTO:
la déchiqueteuse démarre automatiquement lorsque le papier est inséré dans le
chemin d'alimentation. Insérez toujours le papier le plus droit possible. Une fois le papier
déchiqueté, l'unité s'arrêtera. N'insérez jamais plus de 6 feuilles de papier à la fois.
REV:
en cas de bourrage de papier, vous pouvez utiliser la fonction reverse (marche
arrière) pour enlever les bouts de papier bloqués dans le chemin d'alimentation.
N'essayez jamais d'utiliser cette fonction lorsque la corbeille à papier est pleine.
OFF:
désactive toutes les fonctions de la déchiqueteuse. Pour des raisons de sécurité,
nous vous recommandons de positionner l'interrupteur d'alimentation sur « OFF » lorsque
vous n'utilisez pas la déchiqueteuse pendant de longues périodes.

Pour obtenir de meilleurs résultats, graissez la lame de la déchiqueteuse toutes les 2 à 3
semaines à l'aide des feuilles huilées pour déchiqueteuse Office Depot (article n° 340-960)
ou de l'huile lubrifiante pour déchiqueteuse Office Depot (article n° 285-661).

Utilisez uniquement des huiles ou lubrifiants spécifiquement destinés aux déchiqueteuses.
♦
Ne vaporisez jamais un spray ou un aérosol d'huile de graissage directement sur les lames
ou le moteur de la déchiqueteuse. Un incendie pourrait se produire.
♦
Pour huiler votre déchiqueteuse, passez une feuille de papier pré-lubrifiée pour
déchiqueteuses dans l'unité et appuyez sur le bouton de marche arrière de manière à
répartir le lubrifiant sur toutes les lames. Répétez cette opération toutes les 2 à 3
semaines, selon l'usage que vous faites de la machine. Vous pouvez aussi vaporiser
une huile pour déchiqueteuse sur une feuille de papier, la passer dans l'unité et
appuyer sur le bouton de marche arrière de manière à répartir le lubrifiant sur toutes
les lames.
Interrupteur « sécurité enfant »
L'interrupteur a été tout spécialement conçu pour éviter aux enfants en bas âge d'utiliser la
déchiqueteuse, sans pour autant en compliquer l'utilisation pour les adultes.
La fonction de sécurité pour les enfants s'active uniquement lorsque l'interrupteur est en
position « OFF ». Assurez-vous de mettre votre déchiqueteuse en position « OFF » lorsque
vous ne l'utilisez pas. Ne laissez jamais un enfant se servir de la déchiqueteuse.
Pour utiliser la déchiqueteuse et désactiver la « sécurité enfant », appuyez sur l'interrupteur et
faites-le glisser sur la fonction désirée :
OFF :
désactive la déchiqueteuse. Remettez toujours la déchiqueteuse dans cette position
lorsque vous ne vous en servez pas.
AUTO :
commence à déchiqueter toute feuille de papier (6 maxi) correctement insérée. Pour
utiliser la fonction de sécurité pour enfants, ne laissez pas la déchiqueteuse sans surveillance
dans cette position.
REV:
inverse le sens d'approvisionnement du mécanisme et permet de faire sortir tout ce qui
pourrait « bourrer » le système.
Dépannage
♦
N'essayez pas de déchiqueter plus de 6 feuilles en même temps afin d'éviter les risques de
bourrage. Si cela se produisait, faites glisser l'interrupteur sur « REV » et tirez le papier
causant le bourrage.
♦
En cas de bourrage au niveau des lames, éteignez la déchiqueteuse et débranchez le
cordon d'alimentation de l'unité avant de retirer le papier bloqué de part et d'autre du
chemin d'alimentation.
♦
Si la déchiqueteuse fonctionne en permanence pendant une longue période et si le moteur
surchauffe, un interrupteur thermique de sécurité éteindra automatiquement l'unité. Dans ce
cas, positionnez l'interrupteur d'alimentation sur « OFF» pendant 10 minutes ou plus avant
de continuer à utiliser la déchiqueteuse.

et en réduire les performances.

Videz la corbeille régulièrement afin d'éviter que la sortie du chemin d'alimentation ne soit

Interruptor a prueba de niños
Ya que la trituradora está diseñada para usarse en casa también, se desarrolló el interruptor a
prueba de niños para evitar que los niños la usen. Fácil y rápido de usar para un adulto, el
interruptor le ayudará a prevenir que los niños operen la máquina.
La función a prueba de niños se activa sólo cuando el interruptor está en la posición OFF.
Asegúrese de apagar la trituradora colocando el interruptor en la posición OFF cuando no esté
supervisando su uso. Nunca deje que un niño opere la trituradora.
Para usar la trituradora, oprima el interruptor a prueba de niños y deslícelo a la opción que
desea:
OFF (APAGADO):
apaga la trituradora. Siempre que no esté usando la trituradora, debe
mantenerla en esta posición.
AUTO (AUTOMÁTICO):
la trituradora se inicia automáticamente cuando el papel se introduce
en la boca de alimentación. Si desea usar la función a prueba de niños, no deje el interruptor
en la posición Auto cuando la trituradora no esté en uso.
REV:
esta opción cambia la dirección del mecanismo para eliminar de las navajas el papel que
se haya atascado.
Solución de problemas

El intento de triturar más de 6 hojas podría ocasionar que el papel se atore. Si se produce
un atasco y la trituradora deja de funcionar, cambie el interruptor a la posición °∞REV°± y
extraiga el papel atorado.
♦
Si el atasco se produjo en las navajas, apague el aparato, desenchufe el cable de
alimentación y retire el papel de la entrada y salida de la boca de alimentación.
♦
Si se utiliza la trituradora durante un largo tiempo y el motor se calienta en exceso, existe
un interruptor térmico de seguridad que apagará la unidad automáticamente. Si esto ocurre,
desplace el interruptor a la posición de apagado, "OFF", durante al menos 10 minutos antes
de continuar.
