Part 3 – Sensor Installation
3.1
General
The UV/Turbidity sensor may be used either in a flowcell or submerged in a tank or channel. The
flowcell used with the system is designed to eliminate ambient light effects and to allow sample
pressure to be maintained through the flowcell minimizing air bubble formation that can cause
measurement errors. A bracket is supplied for mounting the flowcell to any flat surface. The
flowcell should be used for all finished water applications and is best for raw water use as well.
NOTE
:
UV sensor flowcells are shipped with two sets of fittings for sample connection. The
factory installed fittings are intended for clean water applications (NTU less than 10)
and accept 0.25” O.D. tubing. The outlet fitting contains a fixed-flow regulator that will
maintain sample flow at 4 GPH (0.25 LPM). Sample inlet pressure should be in the
range of 1-50 PSIG. A second set of fittings are supplied for raw water applications
where
high turbidity might be expected periodically. These fittings accept 3/8” O.D.
tubing and there is no flow regulator in the outlet. These fittings should be used when
needed and flow regulation should be installed on the outlet tubing. A ball valve is
best for this as it is easy to clean by opening completely.
