Programming: Tabs on Perpendicular Sides
Tabber is designed to perform tabbing operations according to latest USPS regulations for
booklets in addition to stamp affixing and tabbing of other material. Before setting up Tabber,
determine required method of tabbing.
All material to be tabbed must have good tight folds to permit feeding through Tabber.
The following examples are from USPS regulations regarding placement of tabs:
An oblong piece (
spine on leading or shorter edge
)
that is 5" to 9" long on 60# stock and over 9" (
up to
10.5"
) long on 70# stock requires three 1.5" non-
perforated tabs. Two tabs should be placed on top
edge and one tab on trailing edge in the center.
Position top tabs less than 1" from left and right edge
and position trailing tab in middle.
IMPORTANT
BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO PROGRAM ANY JOB, SET UP FEEDER AND
TABBER TO FEED MEDIA. THEN PROGRAM JOB.
To place two tabs on one side and one tab in the center of leading edge, use both Tabbing Heads.
Head 2 is always used as a side tabbing head and as such is fixed. Head 1 will be used to tab on
leading edge.
Begin by setting up Head 1 so it is centered over Center Guide directly over cutout in a position
where tab will be centered on piece.
Example below uses
Manual Setup
method to get precise locations for tabs according to USPS
regulations. Set up Head 2 first, then Head 1.
