ATCA-7490 Declassification Procedure
ATCA-7490 Installation and Use (6806800U11F
)
362
The following procedures re-initialize nonvolatile memory by loading default installation
images which replace the contents of the nonvolatile memory devices. All of the utilities and
images to perform the declassification procedure can be accomplished through booting the
network bootable Basic Blade Services (BBS) software kernel image for the ATCA-7490. You
can contact your local sales team to get access to the latest BBS release version for your ATCA-
7490.
The instructions provided in the
Basic Blade Services ATCA-7490 Programmer’s Reference
guide
can be referenced for booting the Linux image associated with BBS and the commands used
below. For more details, refer to the section
Configuring ATCA-7490 for Diskless Client Boot
of the
BBS Software. When the Linux kernel associated with the BBS software is booted, software
images for the nonvolatile memory devices can be found in
/opt/bladeservices/rom
. The utility
that will be used to initialize the nonvolatile memory devices is called
fcu
. Details of the
command can be found in section
FCU-Firmware Upgrade Command-Line Utility
, in the same
manual referenced above. The procedures outlined below to update the nonvolatile memory
images can also be referenced in the same manual under section,
Upgrading a Firmware Image
.
B.1.1
SPI Flash - Processor
The ATCA-7490 has two 64MB SPI Flash banks that the CPU uses to store the active and standby
BIOS images. The flash device attached to the SPI interface of the Host Bridge requires a special
algorithm to access the flash. Accidentally, writing classified data to these devices is not
possible.
Declassification of the SPI Flash is accomplished by reinitializing the flash with a new default
image from an ATCA-7490 software distribution. The
fcu
command will read the default
image, verify the software is correct for the device being updated and reflash the entire image.
To see which SPI Flash bank is booted, run the following command.
ATCA-7490:/root> fcu -q -datca-7490-cpu
