13. Using a new gasket, install the speed sensor housing
onto the crankcase and secure with two cap screws.
Tighten to 8 ft-lb.

14. Place the water pump into position and secure with
two cap screws. Tighten to 8 ft-lb.
NOTE: Ensure the slotted water pump shaft is
aligned with the groove in the counter balancer shaft.
15. Install the crossover tube on the water pump and cyl-
inder head making sure the O-ring is properly posi-
tioned.
16. Install the shift arm on the shift arm shaft making
sure the scribed marks (from removing) are aligned.
Tighten securely.
17. Place the outer magneto cover into position on the
left-side cover; then tighten four cap screws to 6
ft-lb.

NOTE: For efficiency, it is preferable to remove and
disassemble only those components which need to
be addressed and to service only those components.
The technician should use discretion and sound
judgment.
NOTE: The engine/transmission does not have to
be removed from the frame for this procedure.

1. Remove the cap screws securing the V-belt cover
noting the location of the different-lengthed cap
screws for installing purposes; then using a rubber
mallet, gently tap on the cover tabs to loosen the
cover. Account for two alignment pins.

2. Remove the nut and washer securing the movable
drive face; then remove the face. Account for a
spacer.
