CHECKING THE START RELAY
To check the efficiency of the relay switch:
– Energize (12 V) the two male terminals (85 - 86).
– Using an ohmmeter-tester, check the continuity be-
tween the other two terminals (87 - 30).
Correct value with relay energized: 0
Ω Ω Ω Ω Ω
Correct value with relay not energized:
∞ Ω ∞ Ω ∞ Ω ∞ Ω ∞ Ω
CHECKING THE STARTER MOTOR
Directly energize the starter motor (12 VDC).
The starter motor should start up and cause the engine
to run, absorbing a current of 20 - 25 A.
If the starter motor does not start up, check and if
necessary, replace the brushes.
