Chapter 6. Maintain the chassis
3. While squeezing the release latch, use the power supply handle to pull the power
supply towards you and remove it from the chassis.

To install a power supply:
1. Handle the replacement power supply carefully to avoid damaging the unit.
2. Line up the power supply with its location in the chassis.
3. Push the power supply in firmly until the latch clicks.
4. Insert a power cord (for an AC power supply) or DC terminal cable (for a DC power
supply).
Fan module
The ACI-3144-XR chassis contains a Fan Module. The number of fans on the tray for that
Fan Module may vary, depending on the chassis; however, the entire Fan Module in any

XR chassis is swapped at one time.
The time involved to swap out the
Fan Module
is important; the chassis shuts down if the
temperature becomes too hot.

To remove a Fan Module:
1. Power down the chassis by removing all power cords from the chassis.
2. Loosen the two thumbscrews to the Fan Module on the back of the chassis.
ESD CAUTION
To avoid damage to hardware from ElectroStatic Discharge (ESD),
do not touch devices without first taking appropriate precautions (see
on page 32 for details).
CAUTION
To avoid thermal shutdown, it is recommended that you first turn power OFF to the
chassis before you remove and replace the
Fan Module
.
