Chapter 4 Install and configure the unit
Bypass Switch TAP/Aggregator User Manual
Port rates
Port rates set the speed at which the port operates (without the boundaries of the
specifications for the transceiver installed). The available port rate options depend on the type
of blade and the SFPs installed. Some blades do not have user-customizable port rates.
For some applications, it may be necessary to set a specific port rate or specify half or full
duplex communications. For others, the devices can be allowed to negotiate the best rate.
The Bypass TAP allows user-selectable rates of 1G or 10G dual-rate SFPs.
♦
To set rates for all ports on a blade:
1. Go to W
EB
XR and click the soft arrow for the Global View icon. From the pop-up menu,
select Ports.
2. On the Ports page, select a port and click the soft arrow.
3. From the pop-up menu, select Port Properties.
4. In the lower left side of the window, click the arrow for Port Rate.
5. From the drop-down menu, select the desired rate. The list of rates vary depending on the
blade and the SFPs installed in the port. The default setting for the Bypass TAP is 10G.
6. If connected to a tool that does not support bidirectional traffic, click the checkbox for TX
only.
7. Click
Save
.
NOTE
The Port Rate must be individually set on each port. In a port pair, the same
rate must be applied to both ports.
NOTE
When a blade is inserted into a chassis, port rates become effective after aggregations
are pushed to the blade. In this case, changing port rates takes approximately 90
seconds. Wait this amount of time to ensure that port rates are in sync in both
W
EB
XR
and in CLI.
