3.4 BER Test
The BER test is a quick and easy way to test a connection for bit errors.
The BER test setup is similar to the Generator test setup, but the BER
test can only be set for one stream. Refer to section 3.3.1 for details.
3.4.1 BER Test Setup
Up to eight BER Tests can be added to the test schedule in Test
Automator. Each test has seperate set of parameters. To setup a BER
test, press the
icon at the Test Automator screen. See section 3.2.4
for further information about Test Automator.
The BER test adds extra information to the transmitted frames that the
receivers detect and report as errors if the information is missing.
The only pane for the BER test is the BERT setup pane.

Framed/Unframed
When
Unframed is selected, the BERT generator transmits only a
Preamble and payload with no headers. When using this type of
transmission, it is also possible to add a sequence number to ensure
data packets are received in the correct sequence.
