11. SETTING OF THE THREAD TRIMMING MECHANISM
Thread trimming mechanism is controlled by cam which is situated on the main shaft of the
arm of the machine 12, fig. 39. The mechanism is driven by movable knife during rotation of
the cam 3, fig. 35.

Adjusting of the thread trimming mechanism:
A. Put th e roller 2 into cam groove , fig. 39, it means into the point of the end of
trimming line, i t is the carving place of the line, see cross secti on B- B and C - C. The
carving place of the line is workable place of the cam where the thread is cut by
movable knife. P ush the roller of the cam down to the inner part of the line (in the
direction of the arrow, fig. 41, view B).
And then tighten stopper screw tightly 15, fig. 41 to the shaft 17 and fix screw by nut
16 in this position .
B. Adjust axial position of cam 1 on the shaft 12. Take pin 6 of the valve 8 out to the
edge position, push pin on the shaft 10 together with arm 4 and with roller of the
cam 2 to the edge position. If the pin 5 doesn ‘ t fit well on the bottom line of cam,
loosen the screws 9 and adjust pin 6 of the valve into the correct position through
the movement of valve holder 7. Loose n the screws of the cam 1 and move it softly
into the position with the play of 0,2 mm between pin 5 and bottom line of the cam.
Tighten the cam screws. Push support ring 11 to the cam and tighten the screws .
Insert the pin 6 of the valve 8 into the second position. The spring 18 moves the
shaft 10 back so that the ring 13, fig. 40 is supported by casting 14 in the arm of the
machin e. The pin 2 on the roller is out of the cam 1. In this moment there is a blank
space between the shaft 10 and pin 6.
Adjust the stopper plate 3 with screws 19, fig. 41, so that the cut section of the arm
4 of the plate has the play about 0,3mm. During the reinsertation of roller 2 into
the cam 1 the arm of the plate 4 goes out of the arm of plate 4 from the cut section
3 and move s to the end point of stopper plate 3. There should be blank space about
0,5mm, fig. 40 between the arm of the plate 4 and stopper plate 3.
C. Adjusting the length of thread after trimming: Put the take up lever into the
up position. Loosen screws and turn around of the cam into the point behind
carving line, see cross section B- B, C - C. This parts of the line is marked with L and
point of the end of tr imming in situated in 1/3 of this line. If you turn with the cam
in reverse direction, you will receive longer end of the thread after trimming. If
you turn with the cam in direction of the rotation, you will receive shorter end of
the thread after trimming. Direction of the cam rotation is marked with arrows, fig.
39 and it is identical with the arrows direction on the hand wheel during rotation.
D. For correct adjustment use following parameters:
- parameter 26 – stop position of take - up lever in upper position
- parameter 16 – for opening thread tension disc of take - up lever before trimming
- parameter 32 - for controlling the thread holder during trimming
