IR-Mode
The TILO is equipped with an IR LED (infrared LED).
It operates with a wavelength of 940nm and is
absolutely invisible to the human eye. This is also a
danger: since the light is invisible, the adverse-effects
reflex of the eye (eyelid reflex) does not work. There-
fore, when the IR mode is switched on, care must
be taken that a direct view into the LED is safely
excluded.
The light emitted can only be seen by light amplifiers
of generation 2, 2+ and 4. US-American light
amplifiers of generation 3 are generally not able to
use is IR-LED for illumination.
Turn on and off the IR-Mode
To switch on the IR mode, press the buttons 3 and 4
simultaneously for at least one second.
The IR-LED then lights up in the mode in which it
was last used. The IR mode is switched
off in the same way.
IR-Check
With TILO-3M™, 3Z+™, 3Z+2×™, 6Z+™ and
TILO-6M™an IR symbol appears on the screen when
the IR-LED is activated.
Normally the IR mode is only used if a light amplifier
is used at the same time. If this is not available,
the IR status can be checked by pressing button 4
for at least one second. If the IR mode is activated,
pressing button 4 will activate the following:
Troubleshooting
When the light of the TILO can not be switched on,
the reason could be that you have activated the IR
mode by mistake. If you disable it, everything should
work again.
Brightness adjustment
The brightness of the activated color can be adjusted
by briefly pressing button 3. With each actuation the
light gets brighter until the boost mode is reached.
Here the brightness of the white LED is 160 lumens.
If key 3 is subsequently pressed the light intensity
decreases with each actuation until the lowest
brightness-level is reached. The boost mode is
switched off by temperature control. If the LED gets
too hot, the lamp automatically switches to the next
weaker setting.
Except for the boost mode, the last selected bright-
ness is saved and is already set the next time the
corresponding color is selected.
Flashing function
Each color can also be operated in one of the two
flashing modes. These are activated by pressing
button 3 for at least one second:
– steady (standard)
– flashing
– SOS (lamp flashing in SOS Morse code ... – – – ...)
The following flashing functions can be set in the
LED menu:
Each of these modes can also be selected as a
variant with double speed. This is marked with an F
(e.g.: F.. for a fast beacon strobe).
Disable LED
In the LED menu you can also disable the LED colors
you don´t need. If, for example, the IR LED is never
needed anyway, deactivation is useful, as it cannot
be switched on accidentally. All LEDs can also be
deactivated if the TILO is to be used exclusively as a
thermal imaging device.

Special functions
Screen texts
The currently selected filter (left) and the current zoom
level (right) are displayed at the top of the screen.
Menu
Enter the menu by pressing the buttons 1 and 4
simultaneously (at least one second). The normal
functions of the buttons are deactivated as long
as you are in the menu. The buttons now have the
following functions:
Survey
(see also previous page)
Button 1 short = marking / picture down.
Button 2 short = marking / picture up.
Button 3 short = in the collimation menu image to
the right, in menus with character input select right.
Button 4 short = in the collimation menu, image to
the left, in menus with character input, select to the
left.
Button 1 long = confirm selection
Button 2 long = selection / zoom level change,
collimation menu only.
Button 3 long = menu / exit submenu.
Button 4 long = save settings.
Navigating the menu
By briefly pressing buttons 1 and 2, you can navigate
up and down in the menu (comparable to the arrow
buttons on the computer) (see p. 43).
Pressing button 1 for a long time is comparable with
an „Enter“ on the computer to confirm a selection or
move deeper into the menu.
Pressing button 3 for a long time exits the respective
submenu or the entire menu.
INFO-Menu
Here you will find information about your device
such as the version number, serial number of the
sensor, frame rate, battery voltage and running time
in hours.
IMG-Menu
In this area you can make individual settings on your
device to adapt it to your application requirements.
Enable video output
All TILOs now have an analog Viedo output, which
you can select or activate. The function for this can
be found in the AVID submenu. In normal mode the
video output is deactivated, the selection is set to
OFF.
ATTENTION:
If PAL or NTSC video output is enabled, no image
will be displayed on the device‘s OLED screen. This
will remain black until the video output is deactiva-
ted again. If you want to disable video output, press
button 2 for 7 seconds. Then the device restarts in
normal mode. The video output is now deactivated
again.
To activate the video output, use buttons 1 or 2 to
select e. g. PAL and confirm the selection by pressing
button 4 for a long time.
The screen will now turn black and the device will
restart in PAL mode. The image data is now output
via the video interface. You will need an appropriate
screen or recording device and a corresponding video
cable (not supplied).
NOTE:
The video output of the filters CR, CG and RH are
not being output in the corresponding colors, but in
black and white.
