7.7.3 Adjusting the brake clearance
You will need to take up the slack when the push rod stroke is approximately 2/3 of the maximum
travel.
To do so, move the lever one or more notches relative to the cam.
Never change the position of the actuator on the
lever without the authorization of the vehicle
manufacturer, as the vehicle has been approved for
use with this setting. (Brake levers have multiple
holes. Ensure that it stays in the original position).
If a slack adjuster has been installed, turn the adjusting screw on the slack adjuster to adjust its
relative position to the cam bearing (Figure 51).
Turn it in the direction that the cam bearing rotates
(Figure 51). To take up the slack, turn the screw so
that the bearing turns in the same direction.
To prevent the brake from overheating, make sure
that the wheel turns freely when the brake is not
engaged.
