ALD-D48 Processor Board Assembly
1.
Install the processor board assembly in the low-voltage enclosure. Press the standoff in the
upper left hand corner of the board through the pink label marked "D48". (A 1/4" (7mm)
nutdriver can be used to help press in the standoff.) Using the #8 x 1/2" screws provided, attach
the board through the remaining mounting holes.
2.
Connect Chassis Ground Wire. Using the #8 x 1/4" screw provided, connect the ground wire to
the enclosure in any convenient location.
3.
Verify Address. Verify the address on the DIP switch is set to default address 1 as shown
below.
4.
Connect ALD dimmers and switches. Connect the wiring to the appropriate ALD bus (buses 1-
12, 4 devices per bus). Gray (G) and violet (V) connections are so marked on the printed circuit
board. Use Class 3, 2-conductor twisted/shielded 22 AWG cable for commercial or Class 2, 2-
conductor for residential. Wire in a star, T-tap or daisy chain configuration.
5.
If not already connected, run 120V power wiring into the panel. Locations to run power wiring
into the panel are shown in Figure 1. Terminal blocks will accept 26 through 14 AWG wire.
Tighten terminal blocks to 3.5 to 5 in-lbs. (.40 to .57 Nm). Do not overtighten.
6.
Connect the provided red and black pigtail power input wires from the processor board
assembly to the two-pin output on the power supply. Connect red to (+) and black to (-).
7.
Turn power ON. Return the supply breaker to the ON position. Confirm that the processor is
powered ON as well.
8.
Check for heartbeat: Check the heartbeat LED (D2) on Lutron processor. It should be flashing
slowly. If it is off, check the power connections and the in-line fuse. If power is present and the
Heartbeat LED is still OFF, turn power OFF and back ON. If this condition persists, contact
AMX.
9.
If the connected ALD units function intermittently, check ALD bus wiring and
ALD-D48 termination.
Locate and lock supply breaker in OFF position before installing the processor board
assembly.
Minimize bending of the board during installation.
Board components are sensitive to electrostatic discharge.
Do not connect high voltage wiring to the ALD-D48 processor board.
