25L4  and  50L4  STARTERS

Follow  these instructions  for  easy  installation  of  Ampgard  Starters

Remove  the  shipping  clamps  by 
taking  out  two  bolts  and  clamps.

Obtain  a  piece  of 

3f4 

inch  pipe 

about  three  feet  long  to  use  as  a 

"jiffy"  bar.  Insert  in  contactor  clamp 

as  shown.

Remove  four  contactor  phase 

barriers  and  three  main  fuses.

With  left foot  (or  hand)  LIFT  latch 
on  bottom  left  hand  corner  of 

contactor,  and  at  the  same  time  give 
contactor  a  sharp  pull toward you with 
the  jiffy  bar.

Remove  the  control  plug from the 
contactor.

Part  way  out  the  contactor  will 

relatch  in  a  "detent"  position 

which  will  later  be  useful  for 
maintenance.  To  remove  the  contac­

tor,  press  the  latch  bar  DOWN  with 
your  left foot or hand,  and at the same 
time  pull  the  contactor  forward  with 
the  jiffy  bar.  Be  prepared  to  apply  a 
lifting  force  to  the  jiffy  bar  as  the 

contactor  rolls  outward.
