Fixed Thermal Imaging System
Installation Guide
A1.1 Precautions
The LAND Slag Detection System environmental enclosure and
FTI SDS-EA
thermal imager may be exposed to hostile environments, where conditions
can be extremely testing. The following guidelines should be noted during
the installation process:-
•
The environmental enclosure and thermal imager should not be placed
less than 12m from the stream of steel and slag to be monitored.
•
All cabling and air purge hoses should be adequately protected from
high ambient temperatures and radiated heat. Please refer to the
specifications for each component for the maximum rated tolerable
temperature.
•
If additional measures are taken to protect the environmental enclosure
by placing thermal shielding over it for example, ensure that an
adequate field of view is maintained.
•
Be aware of operational circumstances that could place a heat source
or moving plant in the vicinity of the system, which could ultimately
jeopardise the effectiveness and security of the system.
Caution
Do not use the thermal imager in an explosive atmosphere, such
as one containing gasoline fumes.
Never attempt to disassemble or modify the thermal imager or
any of its accessories.
Do not subject the thermal imager to severe shock or vibration.
