Step 12 Install Hard Disk
Attach IDE Cable to J9
J9 is a 40-pin dual-inline berg that connects an IDE hard disk drive to the onboard IDE Controller. Attach
the 40-wire IDE ribbon cable to J9 as shown below.
When you use the onboard IDE controller in conjunction with another hard drive controller, you must make
sure that there are no conflicts in IRQ and I/O port addresses. The onboard IDE uses IRQ14 and I/O port
addresses 01F0h – 01F7h. If there is a conflict, the IDE interface can be disabled via Peripheral Setup (see
page 97). The J9 pinout is:
