Figure 2-2. Communication Settings
Communication Settings
contains the following information:
Test Packet/Transmit:
Clicking the
Transmit
button forces the
unit to send a test packet to your website account for
communications testing. Status messages display in the window
next to the
Transmit
button that identify the transmission status.
Also see
Transmit Retries:
The
Transmit Retries
field always displays
n/a
.
When a unit is unsuccessful at transmitting a packet to the website
account within a certain number of days, the website account places
the unit in the status category labeled
Not Responding in (x)
Days
. You can view units assigned to this status category by
displaying the Summary or Unit Category Detail windows. The
Not
Responding
status category is a user-configured setting. It is
available in the
Unit Summary View
box on the
Preferences
window of the website account (
Preferences > Unit Summary
View > Units not reporting in the last (x) days
).
RSSI/Auto Update:
The RSSI (receive signal strength indicator)
identifies the relative signal strength of the received digital cellular
or satellite signal. The RSSI value and green or red status bar are
static indicators of the last RSSI reading. To view a “live” RSSI
reading, select the
Auto Update
check box to place a check mark
inside the check box. The UCT software updates the RSSI reading
every 2 seconds when
Auto Update
is selected.
