B.7.17 USE WITH BUCKET-GRAB
The bucket can only be operated when the crane opening procedure is complete.
The control is used to open and close the bucket thus allowing to lift and release the load.
The bucket is often secured to a hydraulic rotor that allows to rotate on its own axis. There is a
separate control for this.
CONTROLS
CONDITIONS FOR SAFE USE
Use of the equipment is forbidden before the crane is declared conform to the Machinery Directive.
The bucket-grab shall be connected to the last hydraulic extension with a special attachment and/or
with a rotator according to essential safety requirements.
If the crane is equipped with an additional lifting tool intended to push to the ground (bucket-
grab-drill), the rated capacities are not derated but the stress history class becomes irreversibly S1
(see B.2), even if the equipment is removed later on.
For further information see D.18 and the User Manual for the tool.
B.7.18 COMPULSORY CHECKS BEFORE LEAVING THE WORK PLACE
Before leaving the work place check that:
- control panel of the crane is not powered.
- power take-off is disengaged.
- (for cranes with stabilizers) the stabilizers legs are fully retracted and all stabilizer extensions are
blocked with the stabilizer lock devices.
- crane is placed in transport position and there are no crane components or accessories protruding
outside the profile of the vehicle.
- (for CE cranes with stabilizers) the warning LED light in cab is green (see B.6.5).
