Sintering compartment
7.2.1
Cleaning
Special cleaning of the sintering-compartment
components is not required.
7.2.2 Maintenance
Reducing the roughness
After many sintering runs, the surface roughness
of the components increases. This can make it
more difficult to separate the components.
To reduce the surface roughness:
▷
Manually sand off the sliding surfaces of the
bowl/cover using SiC sanding paper with a 600
grit.
▪
Sintering bowl: Inside and outside
▪
Sintering cover: Outside
▪
Protective gas retort: Inside

Replacing the heating rod
▷
Switch the furnace off and pull the mains plug.
▷
If required, wait until the furnace has cooled to
room temperature.
▷
Dismantle the furnace cover (please refer to
page 43).
▷
Unscrew the metal connection strips and the
connection cables at the defective heating rod.
▷
Carefully pull the heating rod out to the top.
▷
Mount the new heating rod (please refer to
page 44).
▷
Mount the furnace cover (please refer to
page 46).
When the Sintron powder is transferred
onto the sintering-compartment compo-
nents through residue on the fingers,
brown or blue discolourations can gradu-
ally form on the surfaces. However, these
are harmless and do not restrict the func-
tionality of the sintering-compartment
components.
To prevent the transfer of sweat and Sin-
tron milling chips:
▷
Before working with the sintering com-
partment, put on thin cotton gloves.
These also protect the hands when han-
dling the still warm sintering-compart-
ment components.
Cracks in the insulation
The furnace insulation consists of a high-
grade, fire-resistant material. Due to the
thermal expansion, cracks develop in the
insulation after only a few heating cycles.
However, these do not have an influence
on the function or quality of the furnace.
After approx. 5 sintering runs have taken
place: In case of a defective heating rod in
the sintering furnace, always renew all
heating rods together.
