Internal Card Reader Installation
Card readers used in connection with the facility access control
system are not included with the SU3500. The SU3500 has sufficient
room for the installation of small mullion- or slim-style proximity card
readers.
Most card readers do not require separate power inputs. In the event
that your reader requires a separate power input – do not pull this
power from the SU3500 power supply.
1. Locate the card reader mounting bracket [Figure 16].
2. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, remove the card reader
bracket mounting screws [Figure 16].
3. Install the card reader to the mounting bracket per
manufacturer's instructions. Card reader output cable must be
routed down through the access hole.
If the distance between the installed card reader and reveal lid
exceeds the read range of the card reader, shims may be used to
elevate the card reader by a maximum of 3/8" (9.5mm).
4. Using a Phillips-head screwdriver, tighten the card reader
bracket mounting screws [Figure 16].
