6.4 Built-in pre-heater
The preliminary heater is an accessory installed to protect the heat exchanger against freezing. Heater
operation principals are presented by following formulas and conditions:
1. The pre-heater is turned on when all of the following conditions are met:
• (T

) / 2 < (Pre-heater setpoint #46[0˚C]).
• T
outdoor
< (Frost protection Pre-heater setpoint #39[-3˚C]).
• The supply fan is on (necessary for heater cooling).
2. The pre-heater is turned off when at least one of the following conditions is met:
• (T
outdoor
+ T
exhaust
) / 2 > (Pre-heater setpoint #46[0°C]) + (Pre-heater off temp difference #47[+3°C])
• The supply air fan is turned off,
• The temperature sensor on the outdoor air X23 is faulty,
• Unit is in start-up (5min).
The [X] values are default values programmed by the manufacturer.

.5 Preheater HRQ-PremAIR-HDE-160-1,5 (optional)
Preheater is optional equipment and it can be mounted to provide additional frost protection. To install
preheater you need HRQ-PremAIR-HDE-160-1,5 (electric heater with special plug).
Figure 29 shows sample connection of preheater.
We suggest to use filter before HRQ-PremAIR-HDE-160-1,5 to prevent heater coils from dirt and extend
product life-span.
After hardware connection preheater works when these conditions are true:
1. The pre-heater is switched on in case all following conditions
are true:
• (To Texhaust) / 2 < 0˚C (Pre-heater setpoint #46).
• Toutdoor < -3˚C (Frost protection Pre-heater setpoint #39).
• The supply fan is on (needed for cooling of the heater).
2. The pre-heater is switched off in case at least one of the following conditions is true:
• (T Texhaust) / 2 > 0°C (Pre-heater setpoint #46) +3°C
• The supply fan is off (Pre-heater off temp difference #47)
